Amanda Hart Fedric, ABCDT

Positive reinforcement trainer

I have spent the majority of my professional career working with dogs. I began as a kennel and vet technician, moved into management of a doggy daycare facility, and have now transitioned into training. I have a total of 10+ years working with dogs. I leverage positive reinforcement to create positive associations between you, your dog, and training!

  • Approach situations with empathy
  • Positive reinforcement
  • Repeat and adapt as needed

My Background

30 years in the making

I was born in Mesquite, Texas in 1988. I am blessed to be a mother to a beautiful daughter named Riley and married to the love of my life, Joe. Both of whom participate in volunteer activities with me at Garland Animal Services!

I grew up in a large and loving family, and begged my mom to get our first dog when I was 5. She caved, and we welcomed Spot into our home. When I was in college, Spot’s time ran out, and we lost our dog of 17 years. I still miss him.

In high school I played Viola in the Varsity Orchestra and played defense on the Varsity Soccer Team. I earned musical and academic scholarships for college, but only pursued soccer recreationally after high school. I initially went to school for art, and completed my two art degrees in 2012. I married in 2013, purchased a home in 2016, and began working for myself in 2018.

Since 2013, we have adopted 4 dogs, 3 cats, and foster the occasional stray while we look for their owners. I try to be active and volunteer my artistic talents, when possible, to the Methodist Church. I am both a Potterhead and a Whovian.

My Experience

Veterinary Surgical Center

I began my professional career working with animals at a vet surgery center. I wanted to be a veterinarian, and took a minimum wage job cleaning kennels, scrubbing the surgery table, and sterilizing and organizing surgery packs.

Veterinary Clinic

After I began college, I took a different job as a veterinary technician working at a new vet clinic. My positions were both jobs I loved (and both gave me a mass of invaluable experience), but I could foresee that ultimately I did not want to be a vet.

Veterinary Clinic

I took on a new position as a Front Desk CSR for a different vet clinic. I worked there for 2 years, and gained even more valuable experience over that time. I ultimately decided that I no longer wanted to work in the animal medical field and moved on.

Daycare & Boarding

I accepted a position as a Play Specialist with a doggy daycare and boarding facility in Dallas. I worked there for 2 years, gradually earning my way into management. I eventually stepped down as Manager when I decided to pursue Dog Training and Behavior and self-employment.
